Not so long ago we wrote a review for this establishment when it was under another name and a corporate umbrella.  For reasons unknown to us, the owners broke away from the Jackson’s franchise and started Ryan’s. Fearful that it may have changed, we went in and were relieved to find it didn’t. Although the menu is a tad bit different, it still is the laid back sports bar we enjoyed.
Atmosphere: There is no real noticeable change to the building except for the sign out front that reads “Ryan’s” in green. There are large flat screens everywhere in this dim, but airy joint. There are rows of tables, both high and low, booths through-out the middle, and a long bar on the southern side. There is a “game” area filled with pool tables, video games and a jukebox as well as a basketball game. Its dark colors and modest sports décor give this place a relaxed and cozy feel. The bathrooms do have LCD screens on the sinks now displaying local advertisements and commercials, which was just strange. Over all Ryan’s a big space that is jammed packed when game time rolls around. The crowd is very mixed but have one thing in common – sports.
Service:  Service has always been decent here, new name or old. There are plenty of bartenders behind the bar and plenty of cocktail waitress’ ensuring that even on the busiest game days, our glasses rarely go empty.
Drinks:  They have 10 micros and domestics on tap.  Nothing in the way of an actual drink menu but the bartenders know their stuff and a have a fully stocked bar to back them up. There is a nice selection of wines and malted alternative/girly drinks like Mike’s Hard Lemonade . There are also daily drink specials.
Food:  The new menu still provides your standard “sports bar food” with some healthy choices. The menu features are salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, wings, wraps and even breakfast. The specialty section has items like steak, shrimp, fajitas, ribs and pasta. We tried the Tao’s chicken wrap and the buffalo chicken sandwich which were both pretty good. We also had a side of cheese curds and …wow!

Amenities:  Patio  on west side , pool tables, video games, basketball hoop game, 38 HD TV’s, dart boards, touch tunes juke box, ATM, free Wi-Fi, trivia, claw game, change machine.
Parking:  There is plenty of parking surrounding the bar in the shopping center where it is located.
The Buzz:  Private party rooms, catering, Wednesday night Trivia, Happy Hour Monday through Friday from  3-6 PM and 10 PM-Close, comedy night on the second Friday of every month, Military and senior discounts, kids eat free Sundays and Tuesdays after 5pm.

It doesn't matter what type of transportation you use to get to The Hideout Patio Bar & Grill – this is one biker bar where anyone fits in. Of course, motorcycle enthusiasts migrate here to admire all the hogs that are on display in the parking lot. But there’s something for everyone to enjoy, including live music, a great patio and so much people watching.

Atmosphere:  The first thing we noticed when approaching the bar is the rows of motorcycles parked out front, leaving no doubt that this is a biker bar. The majority of the bar is dominated by the patio which is lined with tables and chairs for outdoor seating as well as heat lamps for cooler nights. There is an indoor bar area decorated with beer signs, a few flat screen TV’s, high top tables, and a bar top facing out to the patio for people watching enthusiast. On the patio, there is large stage that rocks -out with live music on Wednesdays , Fridays and Saturdays, as well as a smaller stage inside the bar- when bad weather hits. The crowd is very mixed in age, but most wear Harley gear and leather of some fashion. The distant smell of burning rubber, from burn-outs in the parking lot and second hand smoke takes some getting used to but we didn't expect anything less.
Service:  We sat in the bar area facing out towards the patio and service was good. The place was packed and only one server was seen inside and another outside hustling.
Drinks: The Hideout likes to keep it simple by serving their beer in bottles. They do have a large selection of domestics, micros, and imported bottles, but no tap beer. The selection of liquors is a little slim but they do offer a full bar.
Food:  The menu is pretty basic with appetizers, soup & salad and entrees. There is a breakfast menu on Saturdays and Sundays as well as daily food specials. The entrée section features mostly burgers, sandwiches, steak and various types of hot dogs. We tried the Soft tail burger with fries and we were not overly impressed. It was bar food for sure, but not the best bar food .
Amenities:  Covered patio, 2 stages, pool table, ATM machine, HD TV’s, The Hideout merchandise for sale, heat lamps.
Parking:  There is plenty of parking in the parking lot as well as motorcycle parking.
The Buzz:  Live music Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights from 7-11 pm, happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 4:30-6:30 pm, breakfast offered on Saturday & Sunday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am, guys night on Wednesday’s with $10 buckets of PBR from 6 pm to close,Trivia on Thursdays from 6 pm to 8pm .

Closed Down

We decided to give the Windsor’s Main Street Grill & Bar a try after seeing pictures of the amazing food on their website and Facebook page. Additionally, we couldn’t resist a place advertising “Voted the Best Restaurant in Windsor for the last 5 years in a row, Windsor’s Main Street Grill features award winning food served with hometown friendliness at budget friendly prices”. However, if we had to diagnose this bar rather than review it, it would be suffering from multiple personality disorder.

Atmosphere:  When entering this place, the first thing you see is the small bar area. Oddly enough it is directly at the front of the restaurant,  next to the waiting area – just feet from the front door. While sitting at the bar we enjoyed our beer and the gushes of cold air that flowed in every time the front door was opened (and it was a snowy night). Near the bar area is framed sports memorabilia as well as flat screen TV’s placed in spots few could even see. The rest of the restaurant has tables and chairs for the lunch and dinner crowd. The entire  place is done with a very modern feel but decorated with vintage black and white photos, knotty pine beams and wood trim, with vivid multi-colored painted walls throughout. All and all this “grill & bar” was packed full of people – mostly older family types, with a few characters around the bar doing shots.

Service:  The service was good while sitting at the bar. The bartender was friendly and informed us of the happy hour specials. There were several servers running around the table areas trying to keep up with the filling tables.

Drinks:   It has a fully stocked bar with a very small selection of draft beers and not much for a wine list. The beers themselves were a bit costly for tap and happy hour pricing ($4.50 each). We wish we could say more about it, but the bar area feels like more of an after-thought than anything else.

Food:  The menu seemed to cover most classic American meals but strangely has a German specials section. The overall look of the menu was cheap and unappealing. From the appetizers, to burgers, sandwiches, salads and even some pasta dishes, the prices seemed a tad bit high and descriptions seemed un-inviting. We did try the happy hour appetizer special – queso artichoke dip while sipping our beers. The portion was tiny, but it was a happy hour special. The tortilla chips were fresh made and very good, but the dip tasted more like mayonnaise and less like queso or artichoke.

Amenities:  TV’s, Banquet room, catering service, kids menu, large outdoor patio with seating.

Parking:  There is plenty of parking in the shopping center lot.

The Buzz:  Happy hour Monday through Friday 4 pm to 6 pm, ½ price appetizers and $1 off drinks during happy hour, Rest Rocks reward program, live music on Monday nights, kids eat free on Saturday.
